So this is how I did it;
All these actions were performs from with a Sun Virtual Machine running WIndows XP SP2 with 1024 of allocated memory.
If you need Sun VM head to
http://www.virtualbox.org/ (Please see the documentation for instructions on installation)
Download UBCD4WIN from
http://www.ubcd4win.com/downloads.htmDownload Katana v 1.5 from
http://www.hackfromacave.com/katana.htm ... a_downloadVerify both downloads using MD5 checker
http://download.cnet.com/MD5-Checker/30 ... 10639.html1) Install UBCD4WIN to your local machine. Remember that you will need a copy of Windows Xp Slipstreamed with SP2 or later. Make sure that you select the create ISO image option at the bottom of the menu, if you don't do this then later you may get lots and lots of menus in BartPE which is not good.
For information on slipstreaming please go to
http://www.ubcd4win.com/slipstream.htm2) Get your USB Drive and connect it. Remember it must be at minimum 8gb, 16gb would be a good idea to give you some extra space to store things if need be.
Navigate to %root%ubcd4win on your local system, inside here you will find the USBUB.exe, run this as administrator.
You don't need to modify very much here but remember to change the boot loader at the bottom on the left from the drop down menu, this must read, "SYSLINUX".
Select quick format if you dont want to wait too long.
Then create your USB stick.
3) Once complete test the boot with the built in option in UBUSB. This should boot UBCD4WIN, if you get a fuzzy screen which looks like a graphics problem reboot your machine and test the usb stick properly on boot. Make sure the BIOS is pointing to the USB drive to boot as well.
This should work and now you can restart and log back into windows.
4) Turn off any virus scanner resident shield that you may have temporarily, extract katana direct to ubusb root and overwrite autorun.inf when prompted (all from within vm, this may take some time)
5) Once this is done locate the ubcd4wininstall.bat and replace its content with that from MK2k (
viewtopic.php?f=4&t=4&start=0#p83)
Once changed edit the line "move /-Y %DISK%cmdc %DISK%ubcd4win" to say "move /-Y %DISK%cmdcons %DISK%ubcd4win"
Next copy the kick.lst from the UBCD4WIN folder on your local system into the root of the Usb drive (also as per MK2K's instructions), if you can not find it use the search option.
6) Now run ubcd4wininstall.bat from a cmd prompt with admin rights. You should receive no error mesages.
Now run syslinux.exe as follows from the %root%/boot/syslinux directory, "syslinux.exe -ma -d \boot\syslinux %DISK%:" Replace %DISK% with your usb drive letter, if you do this operation pointing to your local hdd then you are going to have problems, make sure its correct before running!
Now you should be able to boot Katana from scratch and access everything.
Turn back on your birus scanner.
Hope this helps some people, I know its similar to other instructions but this is what worked for me.
:-)
